Policies

At San Diego Dance Center, we offer private lessons as a valuable opportunity for students to receive personalized instruction and focused training outside of regular classes. To ensure a smooth and respectful process for both families and instructors, please review our private lesson policy below:

1. Scheduling and Payment:

  • Private lessons are arranged directly between the student (or parent/guardian) and the instructor.
  • Payment for private lessons must be made directly to the instructor providing the lesson, not through San Diego Dance Center.
  • Rates, available times, and payment methods are set by each instructor.
  • A $5 rental fee is to be paid to the studio for all private lessons.

2. 24-Hour Cancellation Policy:
  • We require at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule a private lesson.
  • Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice will result in the full lesson fee being due, and no refunds or credits will be issued.
  • Exceptions for sudden illness or emergency may be made at the instructor’s discretion.

3. Studio Etiquette:
  • Students must arrive on time and ready to dance.
  • Parents and students are expected to respect instructors’ time and other studio activities when scheduling and attending private lessons.

4. Responsibility:

  • San Diego Dance Center provides the space for private lessons but is not involved in the scheduling, fees, or payment collection.
  • Any payment disputes must be resolved directly with the instructor.

5. Account Status:
Parents/guardians agree to keep their student’s account in good standing and current with all tuition and fees. San Diego Dance Center reserves the right to suspend or cancel private lessons if a family’s account becomes past due until the account is brought up to date.

At San Diego Dance Center, we value open and respectful communication with our families and believe that a supportive partnership enhances each dancer’s experience and progress.

Parent Observation:
  • To minimize distractions and maintain a focused learning environment, parents/guardians are not permitted inside the dance rooms during class time unless invited by the instructor.
  • SDDC staff may periodically allow parents in to watch at the end of a class/rehearsal. Do not ask instructors to come in and watch. They will invite observation at their own discretion.
  • Parents are welcome to wait in the designated lobby or waiting area while classes are in session.

Communication:
  • We encourage open communication between parents and instructors. However, class time is reserved exclusively for instruction; please avoid engaging instructors in lengthy conversations before, during, or immediately after class.
  • If you have questions or concerns, please schedule a time to speak with your child’s instructor or contact the front desk or studio office.
  • Important updates, studio announcements, and class information will be communicated via email, text, and posted notices. Parents are responsible for reading all studio communications in a timely manner.
  • For urgent matters, please contact the studio directly by phone or email
At San Diego Dance Center, we aim to make tuition and fee payments easy and straightforward for our families. Please read and understand our payment authorization policy below:

1. Automatic Payment Authorization:
  • By enrolling at San Diego Dance Center, parents/guardians authorize the studio to charge the credit card, debit card, or bank account on file for all tuition, fees, and any other charges incurred as part of participation in classes, events, or activities.
  • Tuition is due on the 1st of each month. Automatic payments will be processed on this date unless other arrangements have been approved in writing.

2. Account Information:
  • It is the parent’s responsibility to ensure that valid, up-to-date payment information is on file at all times.
  • Any changes to payment method must be submitted in writing before the next billing cycle.

3. Declined Payments:
  • If a payment is declined or returned for any reason, a $25 declined payment fee may be assessed.
  • Families must resolve any failed payment promptly to avoid interruption of classes and participation.

4. Responsibility:
  • Parents/guardians agree to keep their account current and in good standing.
  • San Diego Dance Center reserves the right to suspend or cancel a student’s participation in classes, private lessons, or events if the account becomes past due.

5. Additional Charges:
Any additional charges such as costume fees, competition fees, or merchandise must be paid in full by the stated deadlines. These may also be charged to the payment method on file.

By enrolling your dancer, you acknowledge and accept this Payment Authorization Policy.
At San Diego Dance Center, we understand that students may occasionally need to miss a class due to illness, family obligations, or other commitments. The following policy outlines how we handle class absences, makeups, and studio-initiated cancellations to ensure consistency and fairness for all families.

1. Student Absences:
  • If a student must miss a class, parents/guardians should notify the studio in advance whenever possible.
  • Students may attend a makeup class in a comparable level and style within 30 days of the missed class.
  • Makeups are subject to class availability and must be arranged through the front desk or by contacting the studio office.
  • Missed classes do not result in tuition refunds or credits.

2. Makeup Limitations:
  • Makeup classes must be taken while the student is currently enrolled and tuition is up to date.
  • Makeups may not be carried over to a new session or applied to future tuition.
  • Private lessons missed by the student do not qualify for makeup classes; see Private Lessons Policy for details.

3. Studio Cancellations:
  • If the studio cancels a class due to weather, teacher illness, or other unforeseen circumstances, a makeup class will be honored.
  • In the rare event a makeup cannot be scheduled, a credit may be applied to the family’s account at the studio’s discretion.

4. Consistency and Commitment:
  • Regular attendance is essential for student progress and class consistency. We encourage families to prioritize attendance whenever possible.
